Research The Minneapolis Cardio-Thoracic Surgery Consultants participate in the Society of Thoracic Surgeons national database. The database tracks a variety of statistics about each patient and operation – 230 data points per patient in all. This national database, which began in 1989, has over 1.5 million patients and regularly provides a wealth of information on outcomes analysis and risk factors.
