Nuclear Cardiology
There are two categories of nuclear cardiology tests: A myocardial perfusion scan, Cardiolite, or thallium scan is a test that stresses the heart muscle, either through exercise or medication, to determine if areas of the heart muscle are receiving good or poor blood supply. A MUGA (Multigated Acquisition) scan captures a picture taken with a nuclear camera that allows your doctor to measure your heart’s pumping volume compared with its total volume of blood.
